What you can post

  • Description up to 500 characters.
  • Every Pin needs media: up to 5 images, or 1 video with exactly one image as its cover.
  • No threads or comments.
  • Per-post settings:
    • Board: required. The list comes from your Pinterest account.
    • Title: up to 100 characters. If empty, Postline uses the first line of the text.
    • Destination link.

Connect your account

  1. In the sidebar, click + Add next to Channels. Only workspace owners and admins can add channels.
  2. Choose Pinterest.
  3. Click Continue to Pinterest, sign in and allow access.

For self-hosters

  1. Create a Pinterest developer app.
  2. Register this redirect URL: {APP_URL}/api/channels/oauth/pinterest/callback
  3. Set PINTEREST_CLIENT_ID and PINTEREST_CLIENT_SECRET.
  4. Apply for Standard access. It's needed for public Pins.

Pinterest downloads images from their public URL, so APP_URL/uploads/... (or your S3 public URL) must be reachable from the internet.

Analytics and plugs

Postline collects impressions, saves and clicks (Pin clicks plus outbound clicks) per Pin, over the last 90 days. It also tracks your follower count.

Plugs (auto-repost and follow-up) aren't available for Pinterest.

Known issues

  • Public Pins need Standard access on the server's Pinterest app.
  • A Pin can have one video, and a video Pin needs exactly one image as its cover.
  • You must choose a board. Otherwise you see "Choose a Pinterest board."
  • If Pinterest can't process a video, the post fails with "Pinterest could not process the video."
