Link tracking
Postline can swap the links in your posts for short links and count the clicks on each one, per post and across your workspace.
How it works
When link tracking is on for a post, Postline replaces each link in the post with a short link at the moment the post publishes. When someone opens the short link, Postline counts the click and sends them on to the original address.
Your post text in Postline keeps the original links. Only the published version uses short links. Each link gets one short link per post, so the same link in two posts is counted separately.
Turn it on
Go to Settings → Workspace → Track link clicks and pick one option:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Never | Links are posted as you wrote them |
| Always | Links in every post are tracked |
| Ask in each post | The composer shows a checkbox, Track clicks on links in this post, when a post has a link |
Only owners and admins can change this setting.
See the clicks
- On a post: open the post in the composer. The Link clicks section lists each tracked link and its clicks.
- Across the workspace: the Overview page has a Link clicks panel with total clicks and the most-clicked links for the period you pick.
- Through the API:
GET /api/public/v1/posts/:id/analyticsincludes the post's link clicks. See REST API.
Short link address
By default, short links look like https://your-postline-address/l/abc1234. On a self-hosted server, set SHORT_LINK_BASE to a short domain that points at Postline, such as https://go.yourdomain.com.
