Comments and thread partsThread finisherX communitiesComment or repost from your other accountsThrough the API and MCPThese features help a post reach more people after it goes out. They live in the composer: the thread parts under the main text, and the Growth section of each channel's settings tab.
Networks set their own rules for automated activity. Automated replies, reposts and comments between accounts you own are usually allowed, but check each network's automation and spam rules before you turn these on.
Comments and thread parts
Click + Add comment (or + Add post on networks that thread, like X and Bluesky) under the main text. Each part has:
- A delay. Pick how long to wait after the previous part, from right after up to a day later. Postline publishes the main post and every part with no delay right away, then sends the delayed parts when their time comes.
- A character counter for the strictest network you picked.
- Images or video. Click + Image or video to attach up to 4 files from your media library. Networks that can't attach media to comments, such as LinkedIn and Facebook, reject the post with a clear message so you can remove the files or leave that channel out.
- Up, down and remove buttons to reorder the parts.
A post's delivery list shows when the next delayed part goes out.
Thread finisher
In a channel's settings tab, under Growth, write a Thread finisher. Postline adds it as the last part of that channel's thread, after every other part. Use it for a call to action, like "Follow for more" or a newsletter link.
X communities
On an X channel, paste a community link (for example https://x.com/i/communities/1493446837214187523) into Community. The post goes to that community instead of your main timeline. Save it in a set to post there every time you use the set.
Comment or repost from your other accounts
Under Growth in a channel's settings tab:
- Comment from picks other accounts that reply to the post after it's published. Write the comment in Comment text and pick a delay.
- Repost from picks other accounts that repost it, after a delay.
Only accounts of the same network can take part, for example a LinkedIn company page commenting on your personal LinkedIn post, or a second X account reposting your main one. The account must be connected in the same workspace, and its network must support replies or reposts.
Each comment or repost appears in the post's delivery list with its status. If one fails, Postline retries it up to 3 times and then notifies the workspace owners and admins.
Through the API and MCP
Thread parts take a threadMeta array next to thread, in the same order:
{
"content": "We shipped dark mode",
"thread": ["How it works: …", "Try it today"],
"threadMeta": [{ "delay": 0 }, { "delay": 60, "mediaIds": ["<media id>"] }],
"settings": {
"<channel id>": {
"finisher": "Follow for more",
"commentBy": ["<other channel id>"], "commentText": "Read more: https://example.com", "commentDelay": "15",
"repostBy": ["<other channel id>"], "repostDelay": "60"
}
}
}
Delays are in minutes. The MCP create_post and update_post tools take the same fields.
