The composer

Open the composer with + Create post in the sidebar, by clicking a slot on the calendar, or with Write a post in a channel's menu.

You can also Start from a template… at the top of the composer, and Save as template to reuse a post later.

Postline checks each channel's rules before it schedules a post: character limits, the number and type of files, and required settings such as a YouTube title. It tells you what to fix.

Customize a post per channel

When you pick channels, a tab appears for each one next to All channels. On a channel's tab you can give that channel its own text, images and video, and comments. Everything you don't change follows the main post.

  1. Open a channel's tab.
  2. Type to write different text for that channel. Choose Start from main text to copy the main text first.
  3. Remove or add images and video, or edit, add and reorder comments. The first change makes a copy for this channel only.
  4. Choose Back to global to drop all of this channel's changes and follow the main post again.

A dot on a tab means the channel has its own version. A warning dot means the network needs a setting, such as a title or board. Fill in network settings on the channel's tab.

Bold, italic and emoji

Most networks only take plain text. To add emphasis anyway, select some text and choose B (bold), I (italic), U (underline) or S (strikethrough) above the text box. Postline swaps the letters for Unicode lookalikes that show on every network. Choose the same button again to undo it. Some screen readers read these letters out one by one, so use them sparingly.

Choose ☺ to insert an emoji where the cursor is.

Mentions

On a LinkedIn, Bluesky or Mastodon channel's tab, type @ and a few letters to search for an account or page, then pick it from the list.

  • LinkedIn: type the company's name as it appears in its page address (linkedin.com/company/name). The page is tagged in the post.
  • Bluesky: handles you mention become real mentions, so the account is notified.
  • Mastodon: pick an account to insert its full address.
  • X and other networks: type the @handle yourself.

A LinkedIn tag written in the main text appears as the plain name on other networks.

LinkedIn carousels

To post several images as a swipeable carousel on LinkedIn, add them in order, open the LinkedIn channel's tab and turn on Post the images as a swipeable carousel. Postline turns the images into a document, one image per page. A carousel takes 2 to 20 JPG or PNG images; you can give it a title, or Postline uses the first line of the post.

Stock photos

If your server has stock photos turned on, choose Stock photos under Images and video to search free photos from Unsplash or Pexels. The photo is added to your media library with credit to the photographer, and its description becomes the alt text.

Tags

Tags color-code posts on the calendar, for example by campaign or client. Pick one under Tag in the composer. Choose Edit tags there, or open Settings → Content, to rename tags, change their colors, add new ones or remove them. Posts with a removed tag go back to no tag.

Customers

If you sort channels by customer (choose ⋯ → Set customer… next to a channel), the composer shows a customer picker next to Post to. Pick a customer to see only that customer's channels.

Threads and first comments

Below the text, choose + Add reply (or + Add comment) to add more parts. A post can have up to 25 extra parts.

Each network handles extra parts in its own way. The composer tells you which:

  • On networks that support threads, such as X and Bluesky, the parts are posted as a thread.
  • On networks that support comments, such as LinkedIn, the parts are posted as comments under the post.
  • On other networks, the extra parts are not posted.

If a thread stops halfway because of an error, Postline continues from where it stopped when it retries. It doesn't post the earlier parts twice.

The calendar

The calendar has four views: Day, Week, Month and List. Use the arrows to move between periods.

  • Click an empty slot to create a post at that time.
  • Drag a post to move it to another time. You can't move a post that has already gone out, or move a scheduled post into the past.
  • In the sidebar, click a channel to show or hide its posts.
  • If your channels are grouped by customer, use the All customers menu to see one client's channels and posts.

Posting times and the queue

Each channel has posting times: the times of day you usually post. New channels start with 09:00, 12:30 and 17:00.

To change them, open the channel's menu (⋯) in the sidebar and choose Posting times. Add or remove times and choose Save times. A channel can have up to 24 times. Only owners and admins can change posting times.

In the composer, Add to queue schedules the post at the next free posting time of the channels you picked. A time is free when no other scheduled post for those channels uses it. Postline looks up to 60 days ahead. If nothing is free, add more posting times.

Repeating posts

Under Repeat, choose how often the post goes out again:

  • Every day
  • Every week
  • Every 2 weeks
  • Every month
  • Every 3 months

Optionally set Repeat until. After each copy publishes, Postline schedules the next one. Copies that would land after the end date are skipped.

Time zones

Each workspace has a time zone. Set it in Settings → Workspace → Time zone. The default is UTC.

Postline uses the workspace time zone for:

  • Posting times and Add to queue
  • CSV import, for times written without a time zone
  • The assistant and AI agents, when you give them a time like "Thursday at 9am"

The Date and time field in the composer uses your device's local time.

Drafts

Choose Save as draft to save a post without scheduling it. Drafts appear on the calendar but don't publish. Open a draft and schedule it when it's ready.

You can save drafts even before you confirm your email.

Post now, retry and duplicate

  • Post now publishes right away.
  • If a post fails on a channel, Postline retries temporary errors up to 3 times. If it still fails, open the post and choose Retry failed.
  • A post that has gone out can't be edited. Choose Duplicate to post it again.

Import posts from CSV

  1. On the calendar, choose Import CSV.
  2. Pick your file. Choose Check file to test it without creating posts.
  3. Choose Import.
ColumnRequiredWhat to put in it
dateYesFor example 2026-11-03 09:30 or 2026-11-03T09:30:00Z. Times without a zone use the workspace time zone

You can import up to 500 posts at a time. The file can be up to 2 MB. Postline reports which rows worked and why any row failed.
