Use your own network apps
Advanced and optional: connect networks through your own developer app instead of Postline's, with keys stored encrypted for your workspace only.
You don't need this to use Postline. Connecting a channel is one click: choose + Add, pick the network and sign in. This page is only for teams that already have their own developer accounts and want to post through them.
Why use your own app
To post on someone's behalf, a network needs a developer app that it has approved. Postline connects most networks through its own apps. Some networks are harder:
- X charges for API access that can post.
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) and LinkedIn company pages ask for business verification.
- TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest review apps before they can post publicly.
If one of these isn't available in Postline, or you'd rather post through your own developer account, add your own app. Your workspace then connects and publishes through it, and you deal with the network's approval and costs directly.
Add your app
- In Postline, open Settings → Developer apps. Only owners and admins see this page.
- Next to the network, click Use my own app. Postline shows where to create the app and the redirect URL to add to it.
- In the network's developer console, create the app, add the redirect URL, and turn on the permissions it needs to post.
- Paste the app's keys into Postline and click Save app.
- Connect your channels from the sidebar (+ Add next to Channels).
Your keys are stored encrypted. Postline never shows the secret again; to change it, enter new keys.
Which networks support it
| App | Networks it covers |
|---|---|
| X | X |
| Facebook and Instagram (via Facebook) | Facebook Pages, Instagram (via Facebook) |
| Instagram (with Instagram Login) | |
| Threads | Threads |
| LinkedIn profiles and company pages | |
| TikTok | TikTok |
| YouTube and Google Business Profile | YouTube, Google Business Profile |
| Pinterest, Reddit, Tumblr, VK, Dribbble, Twitch, Kick | The network of the same name |
Networks that connect with an app password, token or webhook (Bluesky, Mastodon, Discord, Telegram, Slack, WordPress and others) don't need an app.
Things to know
- Reconnect after changing apps. A channel's sign-in belongs to the app it was connected with. When you add, change or remove an app, Postline marks those channels as needing a reconnect.
- Your app's limits apply. Rate limits, review status and costs on the network are those of your app. For example, until a TikTok app passes review, posts can only be private.
- Only your workspace uses it. Other workspaces on the same server keep using their own setup.
- Removing the app switches the network back to Postline's app, if there is one, or turns it off for your workspace.
